PAYMENT

1.   Please contact me regarding rates.

2.   I require payment in advance for the month, due at the end of the preceding month.

3.   For your payment you will receive a reservation of my time for your lessons that month.  I need to receive your payment before the first of the month.  If I do not receive the payment by the fifth of that month, you will be charged a late fee of $10.00.  Please feel free to talk to me about any questions or concerns you may have regarding your payment before it is due.

4.   If payment issues become a problem, I reserve the right to drop you as a student.  Please don't let it get to this point; talk with me first.

SCHEDULING

1.   In order to reschedule a lesson, you must give me 24-hours notice.  You can call and leave a message on my voice mail.  If you give me 24-hours notice (no later than 7:00 p.m. the night before your lesson), you have an "excused absence" and are entitled to reschedule your lesson.

        (a)   I do not carry payment for a missed lesson through to the next month, so we will need to find a mutually convenient makeup lesson time.  If you miss your makeup lesson, you forfeit payment for the lesson.  I will not give makeup lessons for makeup lessons.

        (b)   The 24-hour advance notice cancellation policy should be used carefully and infrequently.  If cancellations become a problem, I will put you on notice.  If cancellations continue to be a problem, I will drop you as a student.  You need consistent attendance to receive guidance to make consistent progress toward your vocal goals.

        (c)   If you think you might be getting sick the evening before your lesson, call me immediately.

2.   If I do not receive "24-hours notice," you do not have an excused absence and will forfeit the fee for the missed lesson.  You will have to pay for a make-up lesson if you want to take one that month.

3.   I am as flexible as possible with lesson times when it is necessary for you to reschedule a lesson, and I will appreciate your understanding on those occasions when I need to reschedule your usual lesson time.

4.    Each student will get two emergency absences per year.  That means that if you cannot give me 24-hours notice, you will not forfeit you lesson fee and will be able to make up the lesson.  Please, only use this option in case of a real emergency.

5.   If we miss your weekly lesson for any reason, it is your responsibility to call me to reschedule and/or confirm your lesson for the next week.

6.   As you become more familiar with the warm-up exercises, you may want  to do some of these before your lesson so that we can start to work right away with a warmed-up voice.

7.   When we start to work on music, putting it in a readily accessible notebook keeps us from wasting lesson time looking for loose pages and photocopies.

8.  Be prepared to record your lessons.  Bring a cassette tape and use my tape recorder, or bring another recording device.

9.   It is your responsibility to track down the music you want to sing.  I can suggest possible sources, but be prepared to purchase sheet music as it is called for in your lessons.

10.  If you are scheduled to sing in a performance workshop or performance class, you must give me at least 24 hours notice if you cannot attend.  If you do not give 24 hours notice, you will forfeit the fee for the class.

11.  When I arrange for a pianist to play for you, be it in a performance, rehearsal or workshop, you will be responsible for paying the pianist.  This fee will be arranged in advance, you will be notified and the pianist will not be scheduled for you without your consent.

12.  Regarding my pre-professional students:  Please think of me, your voice teacher, as a member of the team which prepares you to reach your goals.  This team may include your acting teacher, your dance teacher and/or your music teacher at school, and should certainly include your parents.  This being said, please consult me before you undertake any vocal auditions or performances, and please do so as soon as you find out about them.  I can tell you if I think you're ready for a particular opportunity and help you prepare to do your best.  I can't do much if you bring me music a few days before an audition or performance, or if you don't tell me about it at all.

13.  If you have an opportunity to refer another student to me, it is my pleasure to offer you a free half-hour lesson after that new student has completed one month of (or four) lessons.
