images/voicestudioA.jpgI offer private voice lessons to students seeking training in basic and intermediate levels of vocal technique, including specialized training in classical and musical theater styles.  I accept students age 13 and over, including adults, and I foster a positive and supportive environment in the studio.  Read about my students achievements using the "Students" link.

I specialize in developing serious high school-age performers, and preparing them for college music and theater program auditions,  including guidance in their selection of schools, the choice and preparation of audition repertoire, and the discovery of  performance opportunities for resume building
.  Voice lessons benefit all of my students by developing their concentration skills, enhancing their self-confidence and making them more comfortable with public performance.

With all my students, I emphasize healthy singing with attention to relaxed vocal production and good vocal habits,  as well as the lifestyle choices which allow the singer to maintain a sound vocal instrument. Lessons focus on efficient use of the breath, good posture, development of resonance and projection in the voice, increased vocal range, basic music reading skills, and choosing and learning appropriate repertoire.
It is my goal to develop the singer's ability to understand, evaluate and work with their own voice.

The initial session includes an evaluation of the student's vocal needs and a discussion of goals. Subsequent lessons will include exercises that are assigned on a weekly basis to improve vocal stamina and technical facility.
A cassette tape recorder is available, but students are free to bring their own recording device.

Half-hour lessons are recommended for beginners, while one-hour lessons are more suitable for the serious student.

Several times each year, I offer workshops to my students.  These classes are limited in enrollment and not open to the general public, and the focus is frequently on the development of performing skills and stage craft.  A yearly studio recital is presented to the public. Students are also encouraged to seek out appropriate performance opportunities in their community and/or in their schools.
